Terms of Service
Last updated: October 18, 2026 · Questions? Contact us at joshuastfort7@gmail.com.
These Terms govern your use of Bonfet. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Bonfet.
1. What Bonfet is
Bonfet is a marketplace. People planning events ("customers") describe their celebration, receive a design plan, and get offers from independent event businesses ("vendors" or "pros") — such as venues, caterers, bakers, photographers, DJs, musicians, decorators, balloon artists, florists, rental companies, photo booths, kids' entertainers, and hair and makeup artists. Vendors are independent businesses, not Bonfet employees. The services themselves are an agreement between the customer and the vendor; Bonfet provides the platform, the plan, messaging, and payment processing.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and give accurate information.
- An account is either a customer account or a vendor account. Use a different email for each role.
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- You can delete your account any time in Settings, once you have no upcoming bookings. This erases your personal details and stops any subscription. Booking and payment records are kept where the law requires.
- Text alerts are optional. If you turn them on in Settings and confirm your number, Bonfet texts you about your own leads, offers, bookings, and payments — never marketing. How many depends on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help, or turn them off in Settings. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
3. Design plans and AI
Plans may be created with AI from what you describe and the photos you upload. They are suggestions — colors, budgets, and recommendations may be imperfect, and vendors set their own prices. Free accounts can create 5 AI designs every 30 days; Bonfet Plus members get unlimited AI designs. "I'll design it" plans don't use AI and aren't limited. Ask Bonfet, the in-app assistant, gives general suggestions that may be wrong; check important details, and it can't see or change your bookings or payments.
4. Quotes, packages, and bookings
Vendors may send a quote or list fixed-price packages. When you accept a quote or book a package, you're entering an agreement with that vendor at the quoted or listed price. Prices come from the vendor, not from you or Bonfet. You can book more than one vendor for the same event.
5. Payments
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Bonfet never stores your full card number. You agree to Stripe's terms.
- Deposit and balance: a 30% deposit is due when you book; the balance is due through Bonfet before the event (we show a due date, generally 7 days before).
- Booking protection fee: customers pay an 8% fee on payments made through Bonfet. Every offer and package shows the pro's price, the fee, and the total before you book. Bonfet Plus members pay half (4%).
- Payment collection: Bonfet collects payments on the vendor's behalf as their limited payment collection agent. When you pay through Bonfet, your payment obligation to the vendor for that amount is satisfied.
- Vendor payouts: vendors receive payouts through Stripe Connect and must complete Stripe's identity verification. Vendors agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
- When vendors are paid: the vendor's share of the deposit is paid out when the deposit is collected. The balance is collected by Bonfet and held until the day after the event, then paid to the vendor. If the customer reports a problem or disputes the payment, Bonfet may keep holding the balance until the matter is resolved, and may use it to refund the customer.
- Payment methods: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and any other method shown at checkout. Some methods may not be offered for every payment.
6. Keep payments on Bonfet
Bookings that begin on Bonfet must be paid through Bonfet. That's what makes refunds and protection possible — payments made outside Bonfet (cash, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, or similar) are not protected, and Bonfet can't help recover them. To keep everyone protected:
- Contact details (phone numbers, emails, links, social media) are hidden until a deposit is paid, and can't be included in quotes, bios, or packages.
- Messaging opens after the deposit. Messages that arrange payment outside Bonfet are blocked.
- Avoiding Bonfet's fees by moving a booking off the platform may lead to account suspension.
7. Cancellations and refunds
- If the vendor cancels, the customer gets a full refund of everything paid for that booking, including the booking protection fee.
- If the customer cancels 30 or more days before the event, the customer gets a full refund.
- If the customer cancels less than 30 days before the event, the vendor keeps the deposit (and its booking protection fee is not refunded). Anything paid beyond the deposit is refunded.
- Card refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days. Bonfet credit used on a booking is returned as credit.
- Completed jobs can't be cancelled in the app. If something went wrong — for example, a vendor didn't show up — use Report a problem on the booking or contact us. Bonfet reviews the report, may read the booking's messages, and may issue a refund at its discretion after reviewing what happened.
8. Vendor plans and fees
- Plans: Basic is free. Pro and Premier are monthly subscriptions that renew automatically until cancelled from the billing page. Prices vary by market and are shown before you subscribe.
- Card processing: Bonfet pays the card processing fee on payments made through Bonfet. When a payment carries no Bonfet fee large enough to cover it (for example, a small payment to a founding pro), Stripe's standard processing cost — the card fee (2.9% + 30¢) and payout fee (0.25% + 25¢) — comes out of the vendor's payout for that payment.
- Commission: Bonfet charges a commission on payments processed through Bonfet — 10% on Basic, 5% on Pro, and 3% on Premier — never more than $500 per booking. It's taken from the vendor's share automatically.
- Founding pros: vendors who joined during the founding program keep their founding Pro price as long as they stay continuously subscribed, and pay no commission for their first 12 months while on a paid plan.
- We may change plan prices or commission rates with at least 30 days' notice. Founding prices stay locked as described above.
- Subscription fees aren't refunded for partial months. If a payment fails, the plan may return to Basic.
- Supplier deals: verified pros on any plan can use discounts from suppliers and wholesalers listed in the app. Each deal is offered by that supplier, not by Bonfet, and follows the supplier's own terms; suppliers may change or end a deal at any time. Bonfet may earn a referral fee from suppliers.
9. Vendor responsibilities
- Hold any licenses, permits, and insurance your work requires, and handle your own taxes.
- Honor the quotes, packages, and Bonfet Plus member deals you offer.
- Only post photos of your own work, and describe your services accurately.
- Show up and deliver what was booked. Repeated cancellations or no-shows may lead to suspension.
Verification. Before a pro can receive requests, send quotes, or be booked, Bonfet reviews photos of their past work and any links they share. Photos sent for verification are seen only by Bonfet's team. A "Verified" badge means Bonfet reviewed that work; it is not a guarantee of a pro's work, licenses, or insurance. Bonfet may approve, decline, or remove verification at any time, for example if photos turn out not to be the pro's own work.
10. Bonfet Plus
Bonfet Plus is an optional membership for customers that renews automatically each year until cancelled from the billing page. Benefits currently include a half-price booking protection fee (4% instead of 8%), a $25 credit once per year in your birthday month, member deals offered by participating vendors, and unlimited AI designs. Member deals are offered and fulfilled by vendors, not Bonfet. Benefits may change with notice. Membership fees aren't refunded for partial years; cancelling keeps your benefits until the end of the paid year. Birthday credit has no cash value.
11. Gift cards and credit
- Bonfet gift cards and account credit never expire and have no fees.
- Gift cards can only be used on Bonfet, can't be reloaded, and can't be exchanged for cash except where the law requires it.
- Once a code is redeemed, the balance becomes account credit that applies automatically to deposits and balances.
- Treat gift card codes like cash. We can't replace a code someone else redeemed.
12. Reviews
Only customers who booked a vendor through Bonfet, after the job is marked completed, can review that vendor — one review per booking. Reviews must be honest and about your own experience. We may remove reviews that are abusive, fake, or off-topic.
13. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Bonfet. That includes: breaking the law, harassing anyone, posting content you don't have rights to, misrepresenting yourself or your business, trying to get around fees or the contact rules, scraping the service, or interfering with its security.
14. Your content
You keep ownership of what you submit — event details, photos, portfolios, messages, and reviews. You give Bonfet a limited license to store, display, and share that content as needed to run the service, including sending descriptions and photos to our AI provider to create plans and showing plans to matched vendors.
15. Disclaimers
Bonfet is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that any vendor will respond, be available, or perform as promised, or that AI plans will be accurate. Vendors are responsible for their services.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Bonfet isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and its total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid Bonfet in the 12 months before the claim.
17. Indemnification
You agree to cover Bonfet for claims arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms — and, for vendors, from the services you provide.
18. Suspension and termination
You can close your account anytime by contacting us. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. Bookings already paid will be handled under the cancellation and refund rules above.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
20. Changes
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here and update the date above; for significant changes affecting fees or refunds, we'll notify you first. Using Bonfet after changes take effect means you accept them.
